Who can apply for an MDW?
An individual who is 21 years old and above. Not be an undischarged bankrupt. Have the mental capacity to fully understand and discharge your responsibility as an employer.
MOM (Ministry of Manpower) will also consider your care-giving needs (e.g. young children or elderly family members) and financial ability to hire, maintain and upkeep the helper in an acceptable accommodation.
If you are a first-time employer of a helper, you must attend an Employer Orientation Programme (EOP) before you can apply for a Work Permit. MOM will also consider your financial ability to hire, maintain, and upkeep the FDW in an acceptable accommodation.
Please note that every application is subject to MOM approval.
How do I interview the MDW to ensure that they are suitable to work with me?
We offer both phone and video interviews. We will assist to facilitate the interview as needed and are flexible on the timing of the interview as we have MDWs who are ready on standby in the training centers. For transfer MDWs we offer face to face interviews in the office as well.
What are the salary guidelines for MDWs?
MDWs must be paid no later than 7 days after the last day of the salary period. The salary period must not exceed 1 month.
What are the Work Permit regulatory conditions?
MDWs requires a valid Work Permit.
MDWs can only work for her employer at the residential address declared to MOM.
MDWs can only perform domestic chores.
MDWs cannot take on work with other employers.
What is the foreign worker levy?
The foreign worker levy is a pricing mechanism to regulate the number of foreigners in Singapore. As an employer, you don’t have to pay Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions for your helper. However, you must pay a monthly levy for her. Please refer to MOM's website here for the updated fees.
